Water Piston Pumps For Air Humidification

Humidification plays an important role in manufacturing processes to control electrostatic charges and dust and to ensure consistent temperatures in production and server rooms. When a high-pressure misting system provides evaporative cooling and humidification, humidify to enhance indoor air quality, manufacturing process, material longevity, and comfort while taking advantage of the free cooling and energy savings.

A high-pressure pump is a core component of any effective misting system. It pressurizes the water to around 60–100 bar (870–1450 psi), which is necessary to create micro-droplets that can evaporate instantly. Without sufficient pressure, the water would spray or drip instead of forming a mist.

AWS-HYDRO high-pressure pumps are axial piston type, and an axial piston pump is a kind of reciprocating pump, which is generally composed of main parts such as cylinder block, valve plate, piston and swash plate. There are multiple pistons in the cylinder, the pistons are arranged axially, that is, the centerline of the pistons is parallel to the axis of the drive shaft, so it is called an axial piston pump. It is different from the radial plunger pump because its piston not only reciprocates in the pump cylinder, but also the piston and the pump cylinder rotate relative to the swash plate. The piston contacts the swash plate with a spherical end. There are high and low pressure moon-shaped grooves on the valve plate, which are separated from each other by a partition wall to ensure a certain degree of sealing. They are respectively connected with the water inlet and water outlet of the pump. There is an inclination angle between the axis of the swash plate and the axis of the cylinder.

How do piston pumps work?

There are five friction pairs in the high-pressure axial piston as the following:

1. Piston shoe and swash plate which is an important friction pair in the axial piston pump.

2. Retainer plate and retainer ball

3. Piston rod and cylinder

4. Valve plate and port plate

5. Housing and cylinder

Is misting the same as spraying?

No. It is a common misunderstanding. Misting and spraying are fundamentally different in droplet size and purpose.

Misting systems are designed to evaporate droplets in mid-air, while spraying systems aim to deposit water on surfaces. If a misting system sprays instead of misting, the pressure or nozzle size is incorrect.

Type Droplet Size Purpose
Misting 5–30microns (0.005–0.03mm) Cooling via evaporation
Spraying 100–400microns (0.1–0.4mm) Wetting surfaces,cleaning | irrigation

Pressurized Water Pump Description

Before we get into a water piston pump, it may help to take a step back and discuss water pumps on a more fundamental level. At their core, water pumps are designed to move water from one point to another. As such, the core metric for measuring water pumps is the flow rate. Flow rate in the US is typically measured in gallons per minute (GPM). Flow rate here in China is always measured in cubic meter per hour.

A best high pressure water pump allows the machine to work just as we have our hearts to pump blood through our bodies. It is the HPP pump that produces a force so that the water creates a flow. It's built to last for many years and to keep producing high amounts of pressure.
