High pressure water mist is an important application direction of water hydraulic technology. The high pressure water mist is to pressurize the water (generally greater than 10MPa), and the high pressure water mist is atomized by the atomizing nozzle to form tiny droplets with a diameter of about 100μm and a certain momentum. The surface area of water per unit volume is expanded thousands of times, and it has outstanding advantages such as high efficiency heat absorption, heat resistance, oxygen insulation, and air purification. The high pressure water mist system has been widely used in various aspects such as firefighting, dust removal, humidification, and landscape fogging.

The environmental application requirements are: low reliability requirements and short use time. Using high pressure water mist for fire fighting systems is the most efficient way to extinguish fires. The low quantity of water required means consumption can be reduced to one seventh of the volume used by conventional sprinkler systems. This makes high pressure water mist fire fighting very attractive in areas where space is limited (e.g., ship engine room) and where conventional sprinkler systems can cause significant water damage during a fire (e.g., historic buildings).
